Greetings! My name is Keonna J. Cole. I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a graduate of Georgia State University, where I received my Bachelors of Science degree in Middle-Level Education with concentrations in math and science. Upon completing the Middle and Secondary Education program, I will be certified to teach math and science in grades 4th-8th.
During the 2015-2016 school year, I student taught in a 6th-grade math class at Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School. Along with student teaching, I also sat in and observed many 6th-8th-grade science lessons. I have equally enjoyed teaching both lessons. Math is enjoyable because it allows students to think critically and build conceptual understanding of the content that is taught. It also challenges students to use mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills. I enjoy teaching science because students use inquiry practice to develop evidence-based explanations about a real-world phenomenon. This experience has afforded me to visit different schools throughout metro Atlanta. I was placed at Teasley Elementary and Campbell Middle in Cobb County, and Cascade Elementary and King Middle in Atlanta Public Schools. While in practicum, I became a substitute teacher to enhance my teaching experience. |
